ALLETE Clean Energy's Diamond Spring Wind Project Will Provide Renewable Energy to Corporations
Allete Clean Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of ALLETE (NYSE: ALE), announced today a power sales agreement with Smithfield Foods, Inc. for the remaining output of the Diamond Spring wind site ALLETE Clean Energy will build, own and operate in Oklahoma.
The Smithfield agreement follows an earlier announcement of power sale agreements with two large Fortune 500 companies, Walmart and Starbucks. Walmart has agreed to purchase 175 megawatts for 15 years, Smithfield will purchase 75 megawatts for 12 years, and Starbucks will purchase 50 megawatts for 15 years. Hormel Foods Announces Construction of Solar Energy Project
Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) and IGS Solar have started construction on a solar energy project at the Hormel Foods Swiss American Sausage Company facility in Lathrop, Calif. The project is slated for completion in July.
IGS will partner with PCI Solar who will install the solar system, which will consist of 1,998 panels constructed on both roof and ground space. The project is projected to generate roughly 1.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) per year — enough to supply more than 15 percent of the facility's annual electricity consumption.

Hormel Foods to Become Powered by Nearly 50 Percent Renewable Energy
Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL), maker of SKIPPY®, SPAM®, Hormel® Natural Choice®, Hormel® Black Label®, Columbus® and many other branded food products, has announced a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for wind energy. Sysco Announces Multi-Site Solar Gardens in Texas Are Operational
The renewable energy sites will support approximately 10 percent of Sysco’s U.S. electricity usage
Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY), the leading global foodservice distribution company, announced today that the Company’s solar garden sites in the Houston and Dallas areas are fully-constructed and operational. The three sites, named collectively “Sysco Power Patch” through an employee naming competition, are part of a 25 megawatt, ten-year renewable energy agreement with a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. The project will support the majority of Sysco’s electricity load in Texas, including its Corporate Headquarters.
The “Sysco Power Patch” sites took six months to build and created 190 jobs during the peak of construction in 2018. The project sites are on 224 total acres and feature 201,792 solar panels.
