Spanish Government Approves €23.1M Investment Package for Canary Islands' Primary Sector
The Spanish Government has approved a €23.1 million investment package designed to strengthen the competitiveness, sustainability and long-term resilience of the Canary Islands' primary sector, with funding targeting agriculture, fisheries, water infrastructure and workforce development.
Approved by the Council of Ministers following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the package combines €17.9 million in direct financial support with €5.2 million for strategic investments in irrigation infrastructure and maritime training.

EU: Commission Approves €54 Million Spanish State Aid for Agricultural Companies
The European Commission has approved a €54 million Spanish State aid scheme to support agricultural companies facing increased fuel prices due to the Middle East crisis.
The scheme was approved under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF) adopted by the Commission on 29 April 2026. The scheme covers higher diesel prices from late March to late June and will run until 31 December 2026.

Spanish Amfresh Group Acquires Fruit Firm Terramara Fresh in Mexico from Rioblanco
The two firms have collaborated since 2022, Amfresh said. The Madrid-based firm Amfresh specializes in producing citrus, table grapes, blueberries, and cherries, among other fruits and juices.
"This next step unlocks significant farming expansion in Mexico, enabling us to extend production windows and meet the growing global demand for high-flavoured, disease-resistant, and high-antioxidant varieties across our table grape, cherry, and blueberry platforms," Alvaro Muñoz, CEO of Amfresh Group, said.
