State Bans Poultry, Dairy Shows From Fairs
California has enacted a ban on all poultry and dairy cattle exhibitions at fairs and shows in response to the spread of H5N1 bird flu, according to the state Department of Food and Agriculture.
The ban, issued last week in a notice by State Veterinarian Dr. Annette Jones, will remain in place "until further notice." Officials have confirmed bird flu cases at 65 dairy farms in the state over the past 30 days.
