US broiler hatchery activity softened noticeably through late August and early September before regaining momentum in recent weeks. Egg sets slipped slightly below year-ago levels for the first time this year in the weeks ending 8/31 and 9/7, registering -0.67% at 248,652 thousand and -0.85% at 245,199 thousand, respectively.
