ANALYSIS: Australia's Aug 2026 Beef Exports Slide as Twin North Asian Safeguards Bite
Australia's outbound beef exports contracted further in August 2026, with total volumes falling to 128,346 metric tons (MT), according to the latest trade data from Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
August marked a second consecutive year-on-year (YOY) decline, with volumes down 5.3% from August 2025 and 10.8% from July, as Australia's two largest North Asian markets were simultaneously constrained by safeguard tariffs for the first full calendar month.
