ANALYSIS: Japan H1 2026 Beef Imports Rise 4.5% YOY Despite Demand and Currency Headwinds
Japan imported 247,461 metric tons (MT) of beef in the first half of 2026, up 4.5% year-on-year (YOY), according to data from Japan's Trade Statistics.
This marks a partial recovery from the decade low of 496,166 MT recorded in full-year 2025, which was the first time annual imports had fallen below 500,000 MT since 2015.
