Higher Costs Weigh on Margins as Kroger Reports First-Quarter Growth
Kroger reported its financial results for the first quarter ended May 23, 2026, with total company sales increasing to $46.1 billion from $45.1 billion in the prior-year period.
Excluding fuel and Vitacost, sales increased 0.5% year-over-year (YOY), while identical sales excluding fuel rose 1.0%.
The company reported operating profit of $1.41 billion and earnings per share (EPS) of $1.46. Adjusted FIFO operating profit totaled $1.54 billion, while adjusted EPS was $1.58.
