Michigan's First 2026 Case of Bird Flu Detected in Ottawa County Backyard Flock
Bird flu has been detected in an Ottawa County backyard flock, marking the first bird flu case in Michigan this year.
Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development staff noted the finding in a Wednesday, Jan. 28 release.
State officials did not disclose the flock's exact location.
They say it's a reminder that highly pathogenic avian influenza virus can survive cold weather.
