ANALYSIS: December Turkey Cold Storage Inventories Stay Tight Despite Post-Holiday Shifts
The latest USDA cold storage report for December 2025 continues to underscore a tightly supplied turkey market, even as typical post-holiday adjustments begin to surface. On a year-over-year (YOY) basis, inventories across whole birds, breasts, legs, and total turkey holdings all remained lower, with declines ranging from roughly 27–34%, while MST was essentially flat; down just 1.2% YOY. Collectively, total turkey inventories finished December 24.6% below last year, reinforcing the ongoing impact of production constraints tied to HPAI and related health challenges.
