Chris Stem and Jeff Sears are a dying breed. They are business partners who got into cattle farming right before it became unaffordable.
Their Hanover County cattle farm is named Oakdale. In 2018, they purchased the 100-acre parcel of land on Ashland Road to prevent the likelihood of a housing development being built across from Sears' land — Hanover Vegetable Farm — which has been in his family for five generations.
