Rising Prices Strain Iowa Pantry Pipelines; Federal Cuts Push Sourcing Innovation
This month, six Iowa Feeding America food banks received thousands of eggs from two producers, Versova and Rose Acre Farms, and $15,000 from the Iowa Egg Council. The annual donation – a whopping 302,400 eggs total or 25,200 dozen eggs – was split up among the six, their donations based on their outreach.
The largest, Food Bank of Iowa, which serves 55 of the state's 99 counties, received the lion's share of the donation – 145,745 eggs.
Donations from agriculture companies and other organizations are one way food banks are able to replenish their stock and help Iowans around the state feed their families...
