Tainan Culls 10,836 Hens After H5N1 Bird Flu Confirmed
Tainan’s Animal Health Inspection and Protection Office on Monday culled 10,836 laying hens at a farm in Houbi District after tests confirmed H5N1 avian influenza.
The city government said the farmer reported abnormal deaths on Thursday, prompting officials to impose movement controls, launch an outbreak investigation, and collect samples. Tests later came back positive after analysis by the Ministry of Agriculture’s veterinary laboratory.
