It’s been winner winner chicken dinner for poultry over the past 12 months as cost-of-living pressures force families to turn to affordable meat – and one of the beneficiaries is Don Bradman’s grandson.
The farm-gate value of Australian chicken jumped $150m in 2024-25 to $4.2bn compared to the previous year, according to the Australian Chicken Meat Federation.
Australians consumed about 51kg of chicken per person last financial year and are set to exceed 56kg by the end of this one, the federation predicts.
