DC to Pay for Any SNAP Gap as Maryland Puts $10M Toward Food Banks
D.C. and Maryland announced millions in aid Thursday to help residents at risk of losing SNAP food stamp benefits in the coming days as the federal government shutdown drags on.
D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) said she would use city reserves to cover the federal government's portion of the SNAP benefits through the end of November if necessary, which her administration said would cost $29 million.
