Importing More Beef From Argentina Won't Lower US Prices Much
President Trump's quadrupling of beef imports coming from Argentina is expected to have only a limited effect on record-high beef prices, with Argentina's flow not enough to offset the absence of Brazilian beef.The White House confirmed Thursday that it is raising the quota of beef imports that can be shipped from Argentina under lower tariffs to 80,000 metric tons, up from a limit of 20,000 tons previously. Trump has said that the move is meant to lower the price consumers pay for beef, but analysts and traders aren't convinced that higher shipments from Argentina will knock prices off of the high levels seen this year...
