Investors Expect Above-Target Inflation Friday, Fed Rate Cut Next Week
Investors anticipate an above-target inflation reading from Friday's delayed consumer-price index report, but expect the number will not be high enough to sway the Federal Reserve from delivering an expected interest-rate cut next week.
Economists expect the data to show inflation running at 3.1% in the 12 months through September, and at the same rate excluding volatile food and energy prices. The figures have remained stubbornly above the Fed's 2% target.
