Both buyers and sellers of cattle are in a fairly precarious position this week, with a sharp spike in prices just as likely as a disastrous plunge, depending on weather outcomes.

Most categories of cattle have eased in price over the past week, with the National Young Cattle Indicator showing the largest dip. It is back 46 cents a kilogram liveweight on a month ago.
