ANALYSIS: US Imports of Mexican Beef Expand as Market Balances Against Brazilian Slowdown
US demand for Mexican beef increased in August, providing an additional channel for product that had faced pricing pressure in the Mexican market during the summer months. Shipments to the US during August averaged about 3,100 mt per week, roughly 10 percent higher than in July. By early September, weekly volumes rose further to around 3,560 mt, placing them 15 to 25 percent above the July average and also above the levels recorded in August. The increase coincided with tighter US slaughter levels and reduced domestic production, which pushed buyers to look more actively toward Mexican suppliers...
