Perdue Announces Major Layoff
Perdue Farms is apparently preparing to make a large cut in its operations in Washington. The company began handing out notices to employees from Vice President Chuck Staton announcing plans for "a mass layoff at the Washington facility on Oct. 10, as a result of the elimination of the second shift."
The letter calls the layoffs permanent. It also informs the employees that they will continue to get paid through Nov. 2, when they will be formally separated from the company. It says that Perdue does not have a bumping...
