Meat Price Increases Due to Screwworm
The screwworm plague increased cattle and meat prices in Mexico more than in the United States, which is already perceptible in consumer prices in the domestic market, according to specialists.
While in Mexico the consumer price of beef steak reported an increase of just over 17% at the end of July, according to Inegi data, on the other side of the border the increase rose to 12%, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Labor.
