Ireland: High Beef Prices May Drive Shoppers to Cheaper Proteins
Consumers ditching beef for cheaper proteins is the biggest threat to current cattle prices, which have surpassed British cattle prices in recent weeks.
That's according to Joe Burke, senior meat and livestock manager at Bord Bia, who told a recent Kepak event in Cork that cattle supplies are "likely to remain tight" into 2026, with "no immediate sign" of any recovery in numbers in Ireland or across key export markets.
