200 JBS Workers Ordered to Leave US Ottumwa Mayor Says Visas Have Been Revoked
JBS USA is notifying 200 pork meatpacking plant workers in Ottumwa that their work visas have been revoked and they must leave the country, the southeast Iowa city mayor says.
Mayor Rick Johnson notified the Ottumwa City Council members Tuesday, July 15, that JBS has been meeting with workers from Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua to tell them their employment is being "terminated, and they have to get out of the country immediately," according to a video of the council meeting.
Johnson said he was unsure if more groups of foreign workers would lose their work visas...
