ANALYSIS: USDA Grading Percentages; Select Over the Years
Select-grade cattle increased this week compared to last, although levels remain lower than the previous three years. Historically, Select grading follows a pattern: it starts at a moderate level at the beginning of the year, dips to its lowest point around March or April, then rises steadily through June or July, where it holds at elevated levels until October or November before declining through the end of the year.
