ANALYSIS: China’s Meat Imports Pull Back 2.8% YOY to 3.20M mt in 1H 2025
China imported 3,201,497 metric tons (mt) of meat, including variety meats, in the first half of 2025, down 2.84% (93,721 mt) from the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the General Administration of Customs (GACC).
China’s uneven economic recovery kept pressure on consumer spending, with sluggish demand in the dining sector continuing to weigh on import growth. Rising domestic production also contributed to limiting import volumes.
