Salmonella Outbreak Leads to Recall of 1.7 Million Eggs. Why It Won't Lift Prices
More than 1.7 million eggs were recalled on Monday as dozens of people became ill after consuming eggs that are feared to have been contaminated with salmonella, a potentially deadly bacterium.
At least 79 people -- many from California, Nevada, and Washington -- have gotten ill from the outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement on Friday. Twenty-one people had been hospitalized.
