USA: Bird Flu Reaches Highland Cattle Farms
The H5N1 subtype of bird flu has reached cattle farms in the mountainous western United States, raising concerns among federal agencies.
While the virus still does not pose a serious threat to humans, its impact on farm animals remains significant, writes DairyNews.today.
Cases of H5N1 have been detected on dairy farms in Idaho and Arizona. In February, 20 non-avian birds (both ornamental and wild) were infected in Nevada. In recent weeks, bird flu has struck poultry farms in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico and Wyoming.
