The next few weeks following Easter are generally uneventful for retailers. With below-normal temperatures lingering in parts of the country, grocers are anxiously awaiting the confluence of seasonal factors that typically boost protein sales during the summertime.
At present, grocers are securing holiday-oriented needs for May. The peak demand period for meat typically follows Memorial Day—the unofficial start of the summer season.
Leading up to Memorial Day, grocers will utilize springtime activities including baseball season and Cinco de Mayo to help fill the pauses in retail occasions.
