Restaurant customers are seeing menu prices rise and their meal portions shrink.

At issue is that inflation continues to rise, driven in large part by the ongoing spike in gas prices. The consumer price index jumped 8.5% annually, the fastest pace since December 1981, the Labor Department said Tuesday, USA TODAY reported.
