Lineage Acquires Eight Warehouses and Other Assets from Burris Logistics

Lineage Logistics announced that it has acquired eight facilities from Burris Logistics, a temperature-controlled food distribution firm.

Lineage said the addition of the new eight new cold storage warehouses will add just shy of 1.3 million square feet of capacity and about 115,000 pallet positions across facilities in Lakeland, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; McDonough, Georgia; Edmond, Oklahoma; New Castle, Delaware; Waukesha, Wisconsin; and Federalsburg, Maryland.

USDA monthly cold storage data released Wednesday afternoon showed combined meat and poultry stocks held in the nation's freezer warehouses at the end of July at 0.9% below the previous month and 4.3% under a year ago.

The combined stocks were down 5.7% from the five-year average of 2.314 billion pounds. Chicken and turkey stocks were up from a year ago. Beef and turkey were higher than the month prior.

Central Storage & Warehouse, a top Midwest cold storage and customized warehouse services provider, is pleased to announce the recent expansion of its Caledonia, Wisconsin facility.

Cold Storage: End June Combined Meat/Poultry +1.2% on Month, -1.8% on Year

USDA monthly cold storage data released Tuesday showed combined meat and poultry stocks held in the nation's freezer warehouses at the end of June at 2.201 billion pounds, up about 1.2% from the previous month but 1.8% less than a year ago.

Pre-Report Estimates for May Cold Storage Show Total Stocks 1.7% Below Year Ago

USDA will release its monthly cold storage report at 3 p.m. Eastern time Friday. Bob Brown, a private analyst from Edmond, Oklahoma, provided his insight on what the upcoming report might show.

Cold storage company Americold filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week, detailing a cybersecurity incident that impacted the company's operations. 

Form 8-K is the “current report” companies must file with the SEC to announce major events that shareholders should be informed of. 

According to the filing, Americold on April 26, 2023 “began to receive evidence that its computer network was affected by a cybersecurity incident. The Company immediately implemented containment measures and took operations offline to secure its systems and reduce disruption to... 

Leading Cold Storage Company Americold Targeted by Network Breach

Americold, the world’s largest publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on temperature-controlled warehouses and value-added services, experienced a network breach last week.

The breach is impacting Americold’s operations including inbound and outbound services at numerous facilities. Deliveries and site functionality are reportedly varying from region to region.

Americold has shut down its network while the company investigates the security breach. The company has not yet released an official statement about the event.
