Labor Day – a holiday to honor the American labor movement – is a little over one week away. The invaluable contributions made by our nation’s workers warrants special recognition this year as nearly all sectors face widespread labor shortages during these unprecedented times.
These days ‘Help Wanted’ signs are commonplace and many restaurants have pared down their menu offerings in response to tight supplies. The retail landscape across nearly all proteins has been shaped by labor and processing constraints as some grocers struggle to secure enough product. Retail prices for several red meat, poultry, and seafood items this week continue to trend above 2020 levels.
