Colorado Passes Cage-Free Egg Law
Colorado egg producers were just given a deadline by the state legislature to convert all hen housing to cage-free by 2025. The bill, HB20-1343, passed in the state legislature last month and was signed into law by Governor Jared Polis. The bill was sponsored by Representative Dylan Roberts, and Senator Kerry Donovan. Colorado is joining states like California, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Michigan, which have all passed cage-free egg laws.
Cage-free egg legislation has forced farmers to create new housing facilities including scratching areas, perches, nest boxes, and dust-bathing areas.
