Report Shows Decline in Dutch Pig and Cattle Numbers
According to this year's Agricultural Census report by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the country's pig and cattle populations have continued declining in 2019, dropping by 2% and 3% respectively compared to 2018.
CBS said that the current number of pigs in the Netherlands is just over 12.1 million. This indicates a drop of around 293,000 animals from 2018, with much of that decline (around 193,000 pigs) recorded in the country’s Noord-Brabant province.
