New Year Brings Minimum Wage Increase to More Than 20 States
In July the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by October 2025. But the New Year is also bringing a minimum wage increase. Beginning January 1, minimum wage will increase in 21 states, as well as 26 cities and counties.
According to the Economic Policy Institute, the minimum wage increase will affect 6.8 million workers across the country. A breakdown per state can be found below:
