Post Holdings Reports Poultry Plant Fire in Nebraska
Post Holdings reported a fire took place last evening at its Michael Foods farm operation in Bloomfield, Nebraska. While the cause of the fire has not been determined, all employees were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. Post Holdings reported that the fire impacted less than 5% of the layer population of Michael Foods' internal and external layer network.
According to some reports, one of the barns was destroyed and approximately 400,000 chickens perished. Michael Foods has about 20 barns at the site and about 4 million chickens.
