President Trump Declares National Emergency in Response to Coronavirus
In response to the growing number of coronavirus cases in the United States, President Trump declared a national emergency. The declaration will allow for more federal funding to combat the virus, and provide access to more federal aid for states and municipalities.
According to a letter Democrats sent the president earlier this week, an emergency declaration would allow states to request a 75% federal-cost share for expenses that include emergency workers, medical tests, and medical supplies.
